Lau Ching Chinois du continent (Stephen Chow) vient à Hong Kong pour trouver son cousin. Là, il rencontre la rue à puce sage-guy Smartie (Kenny Bee), qui essaie d'aider Ching entrer dans une école d'arts martiaux dans le but de participer à un concours de combat. Ching devient finalement un étudiant sous l'aile de maître Fok Wan (Corey Yuen) et pousse aussi attaché à sa fille, Mandy Fok (Sharla Cheung). Cela se traduit par la jalousie de son petit ami supposé, Cheng Wai (Yeung Ming-Wan).
