Les habitants de la cité engloutie de Mu, disparue voilà 12000 ans, ont décidé d'investir la surface de la Terre. Ils font enlever la fille du Professeur Shinguji qui avait construit à la fin de la deuxième guerre mondiale, un sous-marin capable d'atteindre les fantastiques profondeurs de leur monde. Un terrible combat pour sauver la race humaine commence à la surface du globe quand les habitants de Mu lancent une fulgurante attaque et sous les eaux, où un gigantesque serpent de mer protège l'entrée de leur royaume...
