Dans le monde futuriste de 1984 - manipulant et contrôlant les moindres détails de la vie de ses sujets - Big Brother est le chef spirituel d'Océania, l'un des trois États dont la capitale est Londres. Le bureaucrate Winston Smith travaille dans l'un des départements. Mais un jour, il tombe amoureux de Julia, ce qui est un crime.
