Phil, un coiffeur à l'ancienne, avait jadis remporté cette compétition, avant que son épouse, Shelley, ne les quitte, lui et son fils Brian, pour refaire sa vie avec son amie Sandra. Ray Robertson, le rival de Phil, débarque à Keighley avec sa fille Christina comme modèle. Il n'y a pas que les très convoités Ciseaux d'Argent qui sont en jeu.
